2) A Frustrated/Failed Player?

You have bashed away for hours (years?), maybe tried lessons in the past, bought books, videos and magazines, but never managed to make it through a complete song, at least, not to a level you are happy with.

A good review of your basic skills is undoubtedly in order. If your foundations are weak it's impossible to build on them. Don't worry about any bad habits you may have picked up .. we will simply override them .. this doesn't take long providing you have the desire to improve. It normally takes about 2 minutes for me to get a good idea of where your problems are rooted, and we can start working on them straight away

You will be pleased to hear that your situation is not uncommon, and often most of the hard work has been dealt with already.  Generally what is required is the mental “glue” to tie everything you have learned to date together.  This doesn’t have to take long, providing you are prepared to approach things in a completely different manner.

I have seen students who have carried fundamental problems for as long as 30 years, which have affected everything they have played, and eliminated most of the pleasure of the instrument.  Once they have realised that music doesn’t have to be a battle between themselves and the guitar, problems are dealt with effectively, and enjoyment can finally begin.

Learning the guitar is all about taking what seems impossible, getting it to a stage where it feels achievable, and steadily working toward making it feel easy. Anyone can do this, to any level they want, with a combination of desire, commitment, patience and naturally, good instruction.

You’re  too old?

It’s just so hard?
